Kielbasa Pierogies

Other than pierogies, we haven't had that much experience with Polish food. We were excited to try the Polish kiosk to see what they had to offer and it was our final stop for our first day's "lunch."

The strawberry balsamic chiller sounded really good but we went for both food options:

The first snack was "kielbasa and potato pierogie with caramelized onions and sour cream" ($5):

We had been picturing a pierogie stuffed with kielbasa and potato, similar to the ones we get from Millie's truck at the 9th Avenue food fair every May. We were surprised when the plate arrived with both kielbasa pieces and a pierogie. (Of course, had we spent more time on the festival's mobile site, we would have read the description noting that it was a potato pierogie accompanied by kielbasa sausage, but oh well.) The kielbasa was pretty good, but we've had better, more strongly flavored kielbasa. The pierogie itself wasn't as soft and easy to cut as we were expecting, but the caramelized onions were really good.

The second snack was golabki ($2.75):

Golabki is a traditional Polish dish consisting of minced pork wrapped up in boiled cabbage leaves. This was pretty tasty, although a little oily. It was interesting how this dish was so much less expensive than the pierogie, even though it wasn't that much less food. A was expecting more cabbage for some reason, but in the end he was still happy with the dish.

Favorite dishes at the Poland kiosk:
