Now With Apricots

Every fall we look forward to the seasonal turkey sausage at Trader Joe's which just tastes like it belongs in a Thanksgiving meal. This year, the sausage seemed to arrive on the shelves a little later, and instead of cranberries and apples, it substituted apricots for the apples. We were curious to see if it would make a difference.

The ingredient list for this sausage was a little different from the previous version, combining turkey, dried cranberries, and dried apricots with honey, salt, parsley, vinegar, brown sugar, black pepper, onion powder, ginger, cinnamon, and allspice. The flavor profile was a little bit on the sweeter side, and we found it sweeter than the previous version. It was still good, it was still full of autumn flavors, and it still went well with stuffing, but it was just a little different. Not sure which one we prefer between the two, maybe the previous one since it was a bit less sweet and the apple was more subtle.

Buy again? Sure. We usually pick up one or two packs of this sausage every year and it's good for the fall/winter.
