German Chocolate Cake

Ever since our favorite ice cream at Target (the Market Pantry birthday cake flavor) was discontinued, we haven't bought much ice cream there. On a recent trip, we found this German chocolate cake ice cream in the clearance section and figured we would give it a try. Almost all the pints of ice cream in the freezer until this point had been Ample Hills (side note: how have we still not written about their Star Wars ice cream yet?), and we thought it would be fun to try something new (and cheaper).

M's review: This tasted just like chocolate ice cream to me with little hints of coconut and caramel. The caramel flavor wasn't very strong, but I mostly associate German chocolate cake with the flavors of chocolate and coconut, so that was okay with me. This was pretty good chocolate ice cream, but nothing so special that I would put it on our shopping list for our next trip.

A's review: This was a really rich chocolate ice cream with some chocolate chunks and flecks of coconut mixed in. I didn't get any caramel flavor, and the coconut was all but nonexistent. I do like a good chocolate ice cream, and this did taste good for that, but it certainly wasn't a German chocolate cake.
