We saw a new snack at Trader Joe's in the weeks leading up to July 4th (yes, this post is long overdue). Not sure if this is still on the shelves, but if not, maybe it'll be back in the future.
Product: Shooting Stars cookies
Price: $2.99 for 16 cookies
Quick review: Described on the box as "chocolate coated sugar cookies covered in popping candy," this immediately reminded us of the fireworks chocolate bar we've gotten there before. The effect of the popping candy was the same - like little fireworks going off inside your head - which is probably why this was introduced around Independence Day. As for the cookies themselves, they were a little on the thin and crisp side. When I saw sugar cookies on the box, I thought they would be soft (sort of like the Potbelly sugar cookies), but then got a sense of deja vu because I think I had the same thought with some coated Christmas sugar cookies they had one year that were never seen again. (I need to not always associate sugar cookies with those soft and chewy cookies I love so much...) The cookies were pretty good, and the box didn't last long. The little popping rocks are also fun.
Buy again? We don't necessarily need them, especially since A makes good cookies from scratch, but kind of fun once in a while.
